Information about Reiki

There are many versions and ideas about what Reiki is. 

Reiki is a Japanese relaxation technique that promotes overall well-being to body, mind and spirit.

The word Reiki is made of two Japanese words - Rei which means "God's Wisdom or the Higher Power" and Ki which is "life force energy". So Reiki is actually "spiritually guided life force energy."

During a Reiki treatment, the Reiki practitioner shares life force energy with the client using a techniques that has been passed down from a Reiki Master/Teacher to each one of his/her students in the form of attunements. These attunements raise the student's to higher energy vibrations in order to be able to practice Reiki properly.

 A Reiki practitioner once properly attuned will receive certifcation and their lineage line. Each form of Reiki has a founder and each student that followed. For example, Usui Reiki was founded by Master Usui and then passed down the line to his students. It is important that a Reiki practitioner has the lineage to show they've been properly taught. The idea behind Reiki is that the body has "life energy force" and when it is low, that is when the body starts to feel drained, and illnesses can occur. So a Reiki practitioner uses what is considered a "laying of hands" upon the client (Please note, that a Reiki practitioner will not touch a client in any inappropriate manner. Usually head is touched, the hands hover above the body over the eyes, heart, stomach, hip area, and down the legs to the feet.)

  • Invigorating

  • Feelings of Security
  • Lulling

Reiki is simple, safe and effective, and is a form of alternative and complimentary spiritual healing. It has been known to help cure illnesses, help clients before surgeries and have faster recovery rate after injury or surgery. Reiki always has a positive effect on these issues.

Despite all the information and misinformation out there, Reiki is a spiritual practice and is not a religion. It follows no dogmatic laws,  However, an ethical Reiki practioner follows a strict code of ethics and lives in harmony with all living things. Please see my code of ethics here.

Reiki is amazing in the fact that it can be given one on one (locally) or long distance. Long distance Reiki is just as effective as one on one. The only thing needed is an open mind.


What is needed for a long distance Reiki Session?



An attunement puts you back in a more natural rhythm with Mother Earth. A Reiki Attunement involves about 15-30 minutes of your time. What will be involved is the following: I will need to know about 48 hours before you want to have your attunement. (Please note I'm on EST, check time zone issues at http://www.worldtimeserver.com )

For People: Once we've confirmed a time, a few moments before we're to start, find a comfortable place to either sit or lie down (whatever your preference is). We will not need to communicate during the session since our connection will be through Spirit/Divine Energy/Source/God/Goddess. When you're set in your comfortable position, state your intention (either by an affirmation or prayer) to receive your attunment. Then, you just lay or sit back and enjoy the gift. If you would like to have ambient music, candles or incense burning, that is absolutely fine, but not necessary. Just make sure you're going to be undisturbed during attunement time: no phones, alarms, children. After the attunement, take a few moments for some stretching, deep breaths and a glass of water.

Important: Everyone feels something different during their attunements. Some people feel nothing. Some people feel something right away. Some don't feel anything until a few days later. That does not mean that the attunement didn't work, it just means that the energy is working in its own specific way for you. Cleansing period: It is highly suggested that the first 21-30 days after your attunement you go through a cleansing period. Since you're realigning yourself, your body is going through a "detoxing" of sorts. So you may want to try and stay away from the following things: nicotine, red meat, caffeine, alcohol, excessive amounts of sugar. Remember also to drink plenty of water each day. (Yes, I did the cleansing period too, I even cut out chocolate, and I felt so much better for it!)

For Animals: Simply let them be!


Recipient will receive a full report from me within 2-3 business days after the attunement. These reports may note problem areas (blocked Chi, difficulty opening certain Chakras, etc.) as well as further suggestions. Make sure to supply an up to date email address.

Karuna Ki Reiki Attunement

Karuna Ki is the art of Compassionate healing. It means "The Way of Compassionate Energy". Karuna Ki is a loving, heart centered compassionate healing art. The symbols used are similar to those used in Usui Reiki, but different techniques may be used like channeling and toning (chanting). Scanning of the bodily system for problem areas can be done long distance. New symbols are often used to connect the recipient with the entire universe restoring balance and energy to emotions. Please refer to instructions above under Long Distance Reiki for information on what to expect.

Time alloted for this should be 15-30 minutes. Recipient will receive a full report of noted problem areas, suggestions for relaxation (if needed) and further suggestions (if needed) via email within 2-3 days after Attunement.

Sacred Flames Reiki

Sacred Flames Reiki is a new system that combines aspects of color therapy, creative visualization, traditional Japanese Reiki, and candle work. Many Reiki professionals have had amazing results with the SFR techniques, reporting an increased awareness of the energy flow during healing sessions.

Long Distance Reiki Healing Sessions 

 If you'd like to be relaxed during the session, that is fine, if not, that's fine too, the energy knows where to go and what to do, so this does not have to be scheduled like the attunements. The same applies to your animal friends. I simply need a name to send the energy to. There is no cleansing period with these attunements.

F.A.Q.

Q. Is Reiki wizardry, black magic etc?
A. Wizardry and black magic etc. is always used with the idea of gaining power over others or gaining some personal benefit regardless of God's will. It does not call on God but on lower powers or other lower beings to help fulfill ones desires. Reiki does not operate in this way. It cannot be used to fulfill ones personal desires unless they are part of God's plan. Reiki can only be used to heal and to help people and is always guided by God.

Q. I've heard of Reiki practitioners speak of Reiki guides. What's this about? I've been told that Christians should avoid contacting spirits.
A.. The idea of Reiki guides is not actually part of the original Reiki teaching, but was added later by Western practitioners. Therefore, one doesn't have to contact a spirit guide to use Reiki as Reiki energy comes directly from God and spirit guides are not necessary. However, it is possible as a Christian to use a similar concept when practicing Reiki. Keep in mind that Jesus, Mary and other Biblical figures received help from spiritual beings in the form of angels. Angels are spiritual beings that God has created to be his messengers and it is possible for Christian Reiki practitioners to make use of their help. God's angels can help heal and also provide guidance. It is also possible to call on God directly and especially Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit to be present and provide healing energy directly from them, but sometimes God will send an angel to do this also. Remember, the entire book of Revelations was given to John by an angel - indicating the responsiblity God sometimes gives to angels to act as spiritual guides.

Q. Is Reiki a cult?
A. In order for something to be a cult, it must have certain detrimental effects on its members. A usual requirement is that they must give up their previous religious beliefs and accept the new beliefs of the group without question. In Reiki, this is not required. People are free to continue with any religious belief they have previously chosen and in fact people of all religious beliefs practice Reiki. In most cults, there is a leader to which members must follow and obey. Reiki has no leader. Practitioners can practice anyway they want and are not controlled by anyone. In addition, in most cults, members are asked to give all or most of their possessions to the group, they often live communally and contact with the outside world is discouraged. None of these conditions exist in Reiki. Reiki is religiously neutral.

Q. How do we know that healing is appropriate for Christians to do?
A. In I Corinthians 14:1 Paul tell us to eagerly desire spiritual gifts. In I Corinthians 12: 28 Paul says that healing is one of the gifts. Paul also says that each of the gifts is best expressed with love. Also, Jesus is quoted in John 14:12 as saying, "I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I go to the Father." We know that Jesus practiced laying on hands type healing, therefore, it is scriptural for Christian to practice healing by laying on hands.

Q. Why is the Reiki attunement necessary? How does it work?
A. The attunement is a process that turns on your healing energy. During this process God is able to connect you more strongly to his power which strengthens the healing energy coming from your hands. While everyone has some healing ability we know from experience that those who receive a Reiki attunement have noticeably stronger healing energies coming from their hands and are able to help others in a more effective way with their Reiki treatments. As a Christian it is recommended that you say a prayer at the beginning of the attunement process asking that God, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit will perform the attunement through the Reiki master. Christians have found this to be a very valuable and uplifting experience that strengthens their connection to God and increases their healing ability

Information on Shamanic Healing


Shamanism refers to a range of traditional beliefs and practices concerned with communication with the spirit world. There are many forms of shamanism in the world. I do not call myself a "Shaman" because I believe to do so would be an insult to Shamans that have been taught traditionally by time honoured Shamans. I feel the term is thrown around too loosely. However, I do believe that I have to right to say that I practice Shamanism in the fact that I follow the basic principals that are found in common throughout most traditions:

The spirits can play important roles in human lives.
Shamans engage various processes and techniques to incite trance; such as: singing, dancing, meditating and drumming.
Animals play an important role, acting as omens and message-bearers, as well as representations of animal spirit guides.
The shaman's spirit leaves the body and enters into the supernatural world during certain tasks.
The shamans can treat illnesses or sickness; they are healers.*


Shamanistic practitioners work with the Spirit; healing^ illness at a Spiritual Level. They gain knowledge and insight from communication on various levels with Trees, Rocks, Ancestors, Animals. To a Shaman, all things have a consciousness and a purpose. Everything is alive.

In order to heal the illness, the Shaman must look at various things. Firstly, the Shaman will look into your spirit to see where the power is missing or perhaps it's misplaced. You may have fragments of your soul lost. You may have lost one of your Animal or Spirit Guides. It is then the job of the Shaman to retrieve those fragments or missing Guides and return them to you so that you may heal; or put the misplaced energy back where it belongs.



Shamanic extraction is the removal of displaced energy, sometimes called intrusions. This is energy that does not belong in the body and may cause illness. How does this energy get displaced? Since the Spirit is able to move about freely, it is believed by a Shaman that the need to "take leave of the body in order to protect oneself from harm" is how this happens. For example, when you're angry at someone, and you pent up all that rage, the energy has to go somewhere, without proper expulsion of this energy, it builds up, and finds a place to take up "residence" such as in your stomach and could cause things like ulcers.

Soul Retrieval: Because a portion of the soul is free to leave the body it will do so when dreaming, or it will leave the body to protect itself from potentially damaging situations be they emotional or physical. There are many reasons for soul loss: abuse, accidents, loss of a loved one. Sometimes soul fragments will come back on their own, but sometimes they will not. What are some of the symptoms of soul loss? Disassociation, Feeling like "you've not been the same since (event) happened", depression that just won't go away*.

Power Animal Retrieval: We all have power animals that work within us. These are gifts from the Divine which are characteristics of these animals that help us on our lives' journeys. Often times due to injuries such as in the section pertaining to Soul Loss, we lose them. A Shaman can journey to retrieve them back. A power animal helps protect our spirit, keep us free from illnesses, give us self-esteem. Without them, we often feel "less than", deflated, not "quite ourselves".



Shamanic Journeying: is a tool for spiritual growth. It also can be used for healing, obtaining information, and working through issues. When someone goes on a journey they are able to communicate on a spiritual level. They can go and visit guardian spirits, they can go and visit spirits of the land. A journeyer can use a journey to examine the health of their body or another's body. They can also discover things about the world.



Question: Can these things be done long distance?

Answer: Absolutely! Since the Shaman works on a Spiritual level, and journeys to other worlds, it is not necessary to be together when performing these tasks.



Question: What can I expect?
Answer: First you'll share some information with me, consider it a small intake interview (This can be done by phone or email): What you are feeling, what is going on, what you're concerned about.




Please note: due to ethical beliefs, I cannot do any shamanic work for any one under age of 16.


During the session, it is highly suggested we set up a time and you take the time to lie down and relax comfortably (Just like the Attunements for Reiki). A session will last about 30 - 60 minutes.

Then, I will do a shamanic journey to diagnose the problems. Lastly I will do what is needed, whether it be:

I see that many practioners are charging hundreds of dollars for their services. And although I know that they're providing a valuable service, I do not feel that it is fair when sometimes people need something badly and just cannot come up with the outrageous fees. If you truly feel you need shamanic services and cannot afford my set fees, please email me and we'll discuss it. After all, I'm here to help, not hinder the healing process.
